We built Velora to solve our own problem

The Origin Story

Velora started with a simple problem: we couldn't keep up with the news cycle.

We run Velora Cycling, a cycling site covering pro racing and cycling tech. During major races like the Tour de France, there are dozens of stories breaking every day — stage results, crashes, team news, contract rumours, race analysis.

Missing a story means losing traffic to competitors. But hiring enough writers to cover everything 24/7 wasn't feasible for a bootstrapped site.

The Solution

We started building internal tools. RSS monitors to catch breaking news. AI drafts to get a head start on articles. Automated research to fill in context.

What began as hacky scripts evolved into a proper system. Today, Velora Cycling runs a full newsroom operation with a two-person team. AI handles research, fact-gathering, and CMS delivery. The editors do what editors should do: decide what matters, verify it, and write with a point of view.

Opening It Up

Other publishers face the same problem. Content is a grind. Hiring is expensive. AI can help — if you build the right system around it.

That's why we're opening Velora to other publishers. The same tools that power our cycling site, packaged for any WordPress site in any niche.

Our Approach

Velora removes the bottleneck between a story breaking and an editor making a judgment call on it. Source monitoring, research, and structuring happen automatically. The editor's time goes where it matters: deciding what to publish and how.

Velora is designed around supervised systems. Research, drafting, and reuse happen automatically, but editorial decisions remain human. The goal isn't automation for its own sake – it's consistency, speed, and editorial confidence at scale.
