Create Your First Article
This guide walks you through creating your first article in Velora. You’ll learn about article types, how to write effective briefs, and what to expect during generation.
Article Types
Velora supports two main article types:
News Articles
Short-form content for current events and timely topics. Best for:
- Breaking news coverage
- Industry updates
- Announcements and press releases
- Quick turnaround content
News articles are typically 300-800 words.
Feature Articles
Content that isn’t tied to breaking news. Best for:
- Explainers and how-to guides
- Analysis and opinion pieces
- Profiles and interviews
- Evergreen content
Features can be any length and support more detailed briefs.
Creating a News Article
- Go to News in the sidebar
- Click Create Article (top right)
- Write your brief in the text area (10-5000 characters)
Writing a Good Brief
The brief tells Velora what to write about. Be specific:
Good brief:
Analysis of the latest interest rate decision from the Bank of England and its impact on mortgage rates
Too vague:
Write about interest rates
Include key details like:
- The specific topic or event
- Any angle or perspective you want
- Key points to cover
Word Count
Use the slider to pick your target word count (300–800 words).
Adding Sources
Click Add primary source to include source material. This has two fields:
- Source — a label describing where it came from (e.g., “Press release from Company X”)
- Content — the actual text, pasted from a press release, email, or document
You can also attach files separately under Attachments — PDFs, images, or audio files. Audio is transcribed automatically.
Primary sources help Velora write more accurately by referencing the original material.
Creating a Feature Article
- Go to Features in the sidebar
- Click Create Feature
- Write a detailed brief (10-5000 characters)
Word Count
Use the slider to pick your target word count (400–1500 words).
What Happens During Generation
After clicking Create Article, Velora runs through a pipeline that includes researching, planning, and writing the content. You can track progress in the article list - a spinner shows which articles are actively being generated. Posts typically take 2-4 minutes to generate.
Reviewing Your Article
Once generation completes, click the article to view it:
- Read through the content
- View the research report
- Check facts and quotes
- Review the structure and flow
The article is saved as a draft in your CMS, ready for you to edit and publish.
Tips for Better Results
Be Specific in Your Brief
The more context you provide, the better the output. Include names, dates, and specific details.
Use Primary Sources
When writing about announcements or events, paste the original press release or statement. This ensures accuracy.
Configure Your Skills
Velora writes better when it understands your audience and style. Check your Skills configuration.
