Email Monitoring
Email monitoring lets you capture incoming emails - like press releases, newsletters, and company announcements - directly in Velora.
Connecting Your Email
Supported Providers
- Gmail - Personal or Google Workspace accounts
- Outlook - Personal or Microsoft 365 accounts
Setup Steps
- Go to Settings in the sidebar
- Find the Email Integration card
- Click Connect Email
- Choose Gmail or Outlook
- Sign in and authorise Velora to read your emails
Velora requests read-only access to your inbox. We don’t send emails or modify your mailbox in any way.
Sender Filters
After connecting, you can choose which emails to process:
Process All Emails
Velora monitors all incoming emails. Best if you use a dedicated email address for press releases and announcements.
Filter by Sender
Only process emails from specific senders. This is recommended if you’re connecting your main work inbox:
- Click Settings on the Email Integration card
- Add sender email addresses or domains to the allow list
- Click Save
Only emails from these senders will appear in Velora.
Examples:
press@company.com- Specific email address@company.com- All emails from a domain
Viewing Emails
Go to Emails in the sidebar to see captured emails. Each email shows:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Received | Date and time the email arrived |
| Sender | Name and email address |
| Subject | Email subject line |
| Status | Processed or Pending |
Click any email row to expand and read the full content.
Email Status
- Pending - Email has been captured but not yet processed
- Processed - Email has been analysed and an article idea created
How Emails Become Articles
When Velora captures an email, it automatically:
- Analyses the email content for newsworthiness
- Creates an article idea if it’s relevant to your site
- Marks the email as processed
You’ll find the generated article ideas in News. From there you can review, edit, and generate the full article.
Testing the Connection
To verify your email integration is working:
- Go to Settings
- Click Test Poll on the Email Integration card
- Velora will check for new emails and display the result
Disconnecting
To disconnect your email:
- Go to Settings
- Click Disconnect on the Email Integration card
This removes the connection but doesn’t delete any emails already captured in Velora.
Best Practices
Use a Dedicated Address
Consider setting up a dedicated email address for press releases (e.g., press@yourdomain.com). This keeps your monitoring focused and avoids processing irrelevant emails.
Forward Important Newsletters
If you subscribe to industry newsletters on your personal email, set up forwarding rules to send them to your monitored address.
Keep Sender Filters Updated
When you start receiving emails from new important sources, add them to your sender filter list to ensure they’re captured.
Privacy and Security
- Velora only reads emails; we never send emails from your account or mark emails as read
- Email content is processed for monitoring only
- You can disconnect at any time, revoking Velora’s access
- We use OAuth for secure authentication (we never see your email password)
